Application of LiDAR Sensors in UAVs

LiDAR sensors use optical remote sensing technology to measure object distances, generally using an impulse laser beam to scan the environment and detecting the time it takes for the signal to return from the scanned object to the detector. During the scanning process, the LiDAR system scans various distance points and then calculates an image of the surrounding environment based on these points.

Working Principle of LiDAR Sensors:

Utilize the laser sensor to emit laser pulses; have the detector record the return echo signal; measure distance through the detector; retrieve the planar position and height; and accurately calculate the location of the echo signal.

Applications of LiDAR Sensors in UAVs:

1. UAV Anti-collision Radar Sensors

LiDAR sensors adopt precise positioning and safe navigation technology, featuring obstacle detection capabilities to identify and avoid obstacles.

2. Surface Imagery LiDAR Sensors

Based on integrated optical altimeter technology, these laser sensors provide accurate distance measurements when positioned above ground level.

3. LiDAR Structural Inspection

LiDAR sensors possess powerful built-in signal analysis technology, new line-of-sight, and multi-segment measurement functions, enabling the measurement of key distance values and efficient obstacle detection data for safe navigation during structural inspections.

4. Nighttime LiDAR Sensors

LiDAR sensors can work in low visibility or nighttime conditions, thus significantly improving the success rate of obstacle avoidance.

LiDAR sensors are increasingly widely used in detection systems, especially UAV robotic systems that utilize a variety of LiDAR sensors with different functions.
